LYMAN -- Steven Dupras, 46, of Lyman, passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2013, at his home in Lyman.
Steven was born in Biddeford on May 10, 1967, the son of Louis and Barbara (Lynes) Dupras. He was educated in the Biddeford schools.
He was a captain with Goodwin Mills Fire and Rescue, retiring in 2012 after 18 years of service. Previously he worked with both Acton and Arundel Fire and Rescue. Steven always wanted to be a fireman since a very young age. He had a great desire to always do the right thing and help people in their time of need.
Steven was an honorary member of the Goodwin Mills Fire Department Team, they were like a family to Steve, he made a lot of lifelong friends through the department. He was an assistant coordinator with the York County Chiefs Association Firefighter 1 and 2 academy, graduating the most recent class on June 18, 2013. He loved being part of the firefighter community and took multitudes of photos and shared them on Facebook.
Steve enjoyed photography, camping, and was an avid Bruins fan, but his son Alex was his pride and joy and his world.
Steven will be missed by his friends and family, the firefighter community and those lives that he touched throughout his life.
He was predeceased by both of his parents, Louis and Barbara Dupras. He was also predeceased by his brother, Brian L. Dupras. Steven is survived by his greatest gift and only son, Alex C. Dupras of Alfred. He is also survived by his three sisters, Sharon M. Dupras of Ocean Park, Cindy A. Hilton and her husband Scott of Dayton and Jennifer E. Burdick and her husband Keith of Biddeford. Steve also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Trey Allen, Breanna Dupras, Ben Dupras, Nathan Hilton, Nicole Hilton, Jacob Burdick, Kory Burdick, John Allen and Justin Allen; as well as many dear friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Most Holy Trinity Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
