GORHAM -- Stanley M. Fearon died on Jan. 6, 2013, at his home in Gorham following a brief illness. He was born in Portland on Sept. 9, 1938. He was the fourth child of Clyde M. Fearon and Elizabeth Joyce Fearon.
He was married to Delora Leighton in 1956 and began raising their family.
Stanley was professional a truck driver and construction worker, working for M. L. Rogers in his early life, then for Highway Trans for 11 years and Blue Line Express for 12. He also worked for three pollution control services. Before retiring as a snowbird to Florida, he was owner/ operator with his son, Paul, of Lyn's Spring Services, Fearon Enterprises of New Gloucester, and a new bottle redemption business, Twisted Nickels also in New Gloucester.
He enjoyed many seasons of hunting at Camp Buckhorn in Machias, snowmobiling, boating, deep sea fishing and building race cars with his sons Lawrence and Paul. He also took many motorcycle trips to Canada and loved to swim with his grandchildren and great grandchildren in his pool. He was always busy doing odd jobs around the home. He especially loved to mow the lawn giving the kids rides on the mower.
He was predeceased by an older brother, Darrell Fearon and a sister, Barbara Rowley. He is survived by his wife Delora of 57 years; daughter Lucinda Drown and her husband Wayne, son Lawrence Maxfield-Fearon and his wife Kim, son Paul Fearon and his wife Crystal, all of Gorham; sisters, Louise Siciliano of Gorham, Marjorie Timberlake of Bowling Green, Ky., Mary Woodbury of Largo, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
An hour of visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the chapel with the Rev. Gary Wilkens officiating. Online condolences may be made to www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com.
