Sharon J. Gower, 69
CAPE ELIZABETH - Sherri Gower died unexpectedly on Dec. 1, 2017. She was born in Portland on Nov. 3, 1948, the daughter of Ernest Jordan Sr. and Frances (Stanford) Jordan. She graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1967 and soon after received her certification in secretarial work.
On Sept. 26, 1970, she married the love of her life, Gunter, and together, they raised two sons.
The consummate wife and mother, she dedicated her life to caring for her family and for others. She worked for Cape Elizabeth schools for 25 years, first in the cafeteria and then as an Ed. Tech until she retired in 2012. Throughout her tenure, she contributed to the education of so many Cape Elizabeth children.
She was a pinnacle of the Cape Elizabeth community for over 50 years, serving as Cub Scout den mother, election warden, and forever cake maker for everyone she loved.
Sherri was an avid fan of the Red Sox, most nights not going to sleep until that last inning ended, no matter the time. She loved the sunshine and the beach and made sure to make her yearly trip to Florida to visit family and friends. Although she had many hobbies and ways to spend her time, Sherri's greatest passion in life was her family. She was devoted to her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. Always there to lend a hand when needed, she would drop whatever she was doing to help if she could.
Sherri was predeceased by her mother and father; and her sister-in-law, Mary Jordan of Cape Elizabeth. She is survived by her husband, Gunter, of 47 years, her brother Ernest Jordan, Jr. of Cape Elizabeth, her sister Cindy Howison and husband Skip of North Yarmouth, her son Deane and his wife Jennifer of Scarborough, and their children Hannah and Connor; her son Jordan and his wife Lindsey of Saco, and their children Elliott and Elizabeth; as well as many nieces, nephews; and extended family.
She will long be remembered for her kindness and laughter, giving spirit, and her tireless efforts to help others.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, from 3-8 p.m. at
