Growing up he was a member of Boy Scout, Troop 41, where he especially enjoyed the camping trips to Mount Katahdin. He was proud that he hiked the 'Knife Edge' when he was 12 years old. Ryan loved nature and water sports. He loved going to the family camp where he learned to water ski and sail at a young age. He was always looking forward to the next trip to his grandparents' farm at Evans Notch. He loved music and was an avid photographer and fireworks enthusiast.

He is also survived by his parents; his brother Greg and his wife Christina; nephew Robbie and niece Emily; his maternal grandparents; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
