Roger L. Hussey
PARSONSFIELD -- Roger L. Hussey passed away surrounded by his family on Jan. 13, 2013.
He was born the youngest of four children to Ernest W. Hussey and Estelle Weymouth Hussey, in Parsonsfield on Oct. 27, 1925. Roger graduated from Parsonsfield Seminary as his high school class valedictorian in 1944. He then served in the United States Army and toured in Italy during World War II.
After returning home from active duty Roger attended Northeastern Business College to study accounting. After college, he began his career at Lucas Tree Expert Company and worked there for 47 years.
Roger was an avid hunter, fisherman, and vegetable gardener. He loved all sports, especially his Red Sox and Bruins. Roger played shortstop for the Kezar Falls Travelers. In 1948 he joined the Limington Town Team as their shortstop and along with his brothers Ernest and Willard traveled to play baseball in Wichita, Kan.
Roger married Jeanne Norcross on March 25, 1950.
Roger is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeanne; his daughter, Victoria H. Spinale and her husband Richard, and his two sons, James R. Hussey and David Leon Hussey. Roger is also survived by his four grandchildren, Kristen L. Westergren, Kelly J. Chabot, Jamie R. Hussey, and Curtis J. Hussey; great-grandchildren, Lily and Landon Chabot and Estelle and Greyson Westergren; his brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Faye Hussey, as well as his sister-in-law, Jiddy Hussey. Roger leaves many nephews and nieces as well. In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Wyman and brother, Willard Hussey.
The family will gather to share happy memories and celebrate the life of Roger Hussey at a date still to be determined.
