Robert M. St. Pierre, 91
SANFORD - Robert M. St. Pierre, 91, of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Southern Maine Health Care in Bidde-ford, following a brief illness.
Robert was born May 12, 1925; he grew up in Sanford, the son of Maurice and Albertine St. Pierre.
Lovingly known as "Saint," he married Yvette Vachon in 1954, her husband and best friend for over 63 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was employed for many years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement in 1987.
Robert loved reading, painting, going out to eat and socializing with friends. He was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish.
He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Yvette St. Pierre, of Sanford; three daughters, Betty Ann Borchardt and her husband Charles, Diane Constance, and Doris Samuelson and her husband Ken; two grandchildren, Keith Veilleux and his wife Tricia, and Brittany Guthro and her husband Nate; and four great-grandchildren, Lily, Zachary, Logan, and Camden.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. with a service following at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main St. in Springvale. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery located on Berwick Road in Sanford.
