Robert A. Bonomi, 76
FALMOUTH - Robert A. Bonomi, 76, of Mussel Cove Lane, died Monday, March 13, 2017, at the Gosnell Hospice House following a courageous battle with brain cancer; his loving family was by his side.
Bob was born in Springfield, Mass. on Feb. 10, 1941, the son of the late August and Lillian (Wysocki) Bonomi. He grew up on the family dairy farm, Twin Brooks Dairy Farm in Agawam, Mass., and graduated from Agawam High School in the Class of 1958. He then earned his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering form Northeastern University, graduating in the class of 1963. Bob served as a 1st Lt. in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After the war he returned home and continued his education, earning his Master Degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University.
On March 25, 1991, Bob married Jane O. Tarr in Boston, Mass.
Bob worked at AT&T for many years in management positions, including product management, sales support and competitive analysis. In 1991 he went to work for Lucent Technologies where he managed their sales department, receiving several sales achievement awards before retiring in 2012.
Following his retirement, Bob and Jane moved to Maine, settling in Pemaquid, where they remodeled their thirteenth home together, before finally settling in Falmouth. Bob was an avid NASCAR fan, attending the Indianapolis 500 several times and many trips to Loudon and the New Hampshire International Speedway to watch the races. He loved gardening and raising giant pumpkins to share with family and friends, and long distant biking. Bob was a kind, quiet, and generous man who loved being in the outdoors in Maine and was especially happy when surrounded by his family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jane T. Bonomi of Falmouth; a daughter, Nancy and her husband Greg Eldridge of Natick, Mass, a son, David Bonomi of Austin, Texas, stepdaughter, Molly and her husband George Williamson of Gloucester, Mass., stepson, John and his wife Ann Andrew of Gloucester, Mass.; a sister, Dolores Dodd of Suffield, Conn., a brother, Richard and his wife Joan Bonomi of N. Kingstown, RI; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, from 12:00 2:00 p.m. at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, Maine. A service will follow at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be private in the Agawam Veterans Cemetery, Agawam, Mass.
