SACO -- Richard H. Noble, 84, of Garfield Street, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Evergreen Manor.
He was born in 1928 to Maxwell and Florence C. (Burkhardt) Noble of Southington, Conn.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Shirley Noble of Saco; his son Robert D. Noble and wife Julie of Saco and their children Chelsea and Ryan; and his daughter Ruth Droescher and her husband John of Auburn, N.H.
Richard graduated from Worcester School in 1945and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1947. After graduation and until 1950 he worked for General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich. He continued his career as an industrial engineer at several Connecticut firms including New Departure, Clark Brothers Bolt Company, and Barden Corporation. After moving to Maine in 1977 he was employed at Data General in Westbrook where he was a Senior Industrial Engineer and Clean Room Specialist until his retirement.
Richard served in the U.S. Army, stationed at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., where he served as a mechanical engineer.
Richard spent many winters at Citrus Ridge in Davenport, Fla., where he took up golf and bowling. He also had a lifelong appreciation for antique cars and boats.
Friend and relatives may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale. The Rev. Merle Steva will officiate.
