He was well known for his excellent dancing skills. Wherever he went all the women wanted to dance with him. He had a real gift of 'gab' and was a hard worker. He and Rita both enjoyed bowling on leagues and he was an excellent horseshoe player this was a game that was always played at his home in Gorham and his son's all learned to love the sport as well. He married Rita M. Munson on May 12, 1962 and built his own home with a special friend, Joe Basso, in Gorham in 1968 where he stayed the rest of his life. He was able to stay on Mosher Road at the end thanks to his youngest son Jeff who remained in the family home w/him.
Over the years Richard had several odd jobs that sometimes required the help of his two oldest sons along w/his main job that he retired from after 43 years at Weyerhauser Corp. in Westbrook. He and Rita purchased a second home in Winter Haven Fla. in 1995 where they continued to go for the winter months.
