WESTBROOK -- Ralph E. Temm, 84, of North Scarborough, died on Jan. 31, 2013, in Westbrook.
Ralph was the son of Clifford and Susan A. (Finney) Temm of Scarborough. Ralph was born in South Gorham at the home of his grandparents, James Edwin Finney and Estela (Hanson) Finney. Ralph attended Scarborough schools and graduated in 1946 from Scarborough High.
Ralph was never short of work; he worked along with his father, Clifford in the shingle mill business and helped with the family at the family farm.
Ralph was also a volunteer fire fighter with Engine 5 in North Scarborough.
Then came World War II; he served his country in Germany with the U.S. Army. Ralph and John Olson were the only two survivors of his platoon. They have kept in touch with one another as recent as last November.
After the war, Ralph worked at the former S.D. Warren, now known as Sappi, for 30 years. He was devoted to the Masons for 40 years and 50 years with the Odd Fellows.
Ralph also was a worker for Arnold Greenleaf in the box factory. He was a tree farmer as well.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Vera E. Temm; they were very close and lived together for 80 years.
At Mr. Temm's request, the funeral will be private. Arrangements are by the Dolby & Dorr Funeral Chapel, Gorham. For online condolences, please visit our website at www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com.
