Priscilla (Gill) Tighe, 91

BRIDGTON - Priscilla Tighe passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at the Bridgton Hospital, Sept. 12, 2017.

She was born July 17, 1926, in Portland, to Mary B. (McGillicuddy) and William F. Gill. She graduated from St Joseph's Academy in 1944 and from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1947.

She married James Edward Tighe in 1950 in Portland. She worked as a registered nurse in various states, moving five times raising their four children along the way.

She was an avid gardener, bird watcher, golfer, and bowler. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and passed this on to her daughters.
Moving back to Maine in 1979, she spent many enjoyable years in Sebago, golfing at Naples Country Club and volunteering as a Friend of the Spaulding Memorial Library.

Being around her family and entertaining her grandchildren were two of her greatest joys. A lifelong, devout Catholic, Priscilla was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Bridgton for 38 years.

Priscilla was predeceased by her husband, James, of 50 years; her three brothers, William, Richard and Paul; and sister, Mary Frances.

She is survived by her son, James, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Kathryn Perry, of Farmington; son, Francis, of Cape Elizabeth; daughter, Eileen Russo, of Bridgton; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at St. Joseph's Church, 673 Stevens Ave., Portland. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. To sign Priscilla's online guest book, please visit:
