KENNEBUNK -- Minnie 'Minn' Steere Keohan, 87, of Kennebunk, passed away peacefully in her home with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.
Minnie was born in North Berwick on March 21, 1925, the only child of Clyde H. and Mary (Gray) Steere. Minnie called North Berwick her hometown for the majority of her life. She was an accomplished violinist at a young age studying at the Dover Conservatory of Music. She graduated from Wells High School and later cosmetology school.
Minnie lived a very blessed and full life. She loved to quilt, sew, and never missed an opportunity to attend a church fair. Minnie had a deep love and appreciation for animals and loved her babies, Sophi and Chloe. She looked forward to her long, enjoyable phone calls with her cousin, Ginny.
Minnie was a lifelong member of the Congregational Church of Wells, UCC. Minnie was a very spiritual woman who loved her family and devoted her life to caring for them. She was an unselfish and giving mother, grandmother, and wife. She was an amazing woman and the true matriarch of her family.
She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Dr. John Keohan in 1999; her daughter, Judryenne G. Wilson in 1990; and her granddaughter, Stephanie M. Miller in 1998. She is survived by her sons, James F. Keohan of Wells, and John J. Keohan Jr. of North Berwick, her daughters, Julyenne G. Moulton of Dover, N.H., and Cindy (Keohan) Edwards and son-in-law Eddie of Kennebunk and Hampton, N.H., who is honored to have been her caregiver for many years; grandchildren, Jayrenne D. Forbes of Rochester, N.H., Gennifur M. Forbes of Tuftonboro, N.H., Alyssa C. Hunt of Tampa, Fla., Moxie J. Carson of Eliot, Quinn W. Wilson of South Berwick, Kellie A. Verano of Arundel; and several great-grandchildren.
There will be no public services. Her immediate family will celebrate her life together. Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. www.bibberfuneral.com.
