Martin J. McGough, 40

DOVER, N.H. - Martin J. McGough, 40, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Tufts Medical Center following a brief illness. Born July 8, 1977, in Portland, Martin was the son of Barbara Keefe and James McGough.

Martin was employed at the National Visa Center in Portsmouth, N.H. He was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church of Dover, and also volunteered with Dover Baseball and Dover Youth Softball.

Martin was also an avid Red Sox fan, but most of all, Martin loved his wife April, his daughters Ella and Lily, and his golden retriever, Tessie.

Nothing was more important to Martin than his family and friends, his love of his country, military, and first responders. Through many years of coaching, Martin prided himself on his extensive knowledge of baseball and softball, and fostered lasting relationships with the children he coached and their families. Martin was a master of making and maintaining lifelong friendships in all circles of his life.

Members of Martin's family include his wife, April (Supple) McGough, of Dover, N.H.; his daughters, Ella and Lily McGough; his mother, Barbara Keefe, of Cumberland Foreside; his father and stepmother, James and Maureen McGough, of Carlsbad, Calif.; his brother, Christian McGough, niece Riley McGough, and nephew, Keegan McGough, of Otisfield; his sister, Meredith Charest, brother-in-law, Mark Charest, and nieces, Meghan and Emily Charest, of Falmouth; his stepbrother, Adam Rimer, of Anchorage, Alaska; his in-laws, John and Diane Supple, of Lincolndale, N.Y.; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Ken Patria, and nephews, Matthew and Luke Patria, of Dover, N.H; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Rachael and Colm Scanlon and nieces, Helen and Marie Scanlon, of Framingham, Mass.

A memorial Mass will be held in Martin's honor at Holy Martyrs Church in Falmouth, Maine, on Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m.; reception immediately following. An ASL interpreter will be available for the service for members of the deaf community who wish to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a fund for Martin's daughters' higher education:
