SACO -- Louise Clark Webber, 100, of Saco, passed peacefully at home with her niece and caregiver by her side on Friday, June 28, 2013.
She was born in Saco on June 25, 1913, the daughter of Charles E. and Eleanor (Edgecomb) Clark.
Mrs. Webber was a 1932 graduate of Thornton Academy and a 1934 graduate of Farmington State Normal School, followed by summer studies at the University of Maine at Orono. She married Lewis E. Webber in Saco on Aug. 26, 1934.
She did substitute teaching in Kingfield and Old Orchard Beach and in the 1940s taught in the primary grades in Saco. From 1950 through 1953, she served as secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in the Cornish School Union. Prior to moving back to Saco in 1981, she lived in Kezar Falls, Camden and Auburn.
She was an 81 year member of Annette Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the National State and York County Retired Teachers Associations. She also was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church of Saco.
For many years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling in the RV throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. They also made several trips abroad. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge and other card games.
She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Lewis E. Webber on Aug. 16, 2003; and by one brother, Fred E. Clark Sr. in 1977. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco. Burial will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco. To send condolences to the family go to
