Leopold Henaire, 81
BIDDEFORD - Leopold Henaire, 81, of Biddeford, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at Southern Maine Health Care, in Bidde-ford.
He was born April 20, 1936, to Henry and Marie (Descham-bault) Henaire, in Biddeford. He was educated in local schools.
He proudly served in the United States Army in the 11th Airborne from 1955 to 1958. When he returned, he went to work as a machinist at NKL Tanning for 20 years. After the mill was closed, he went to Nichols in Portland until his retirement in 1999.
He belonged to the American Veterans of Foreign Wars in Old Orchard Beach. He was an outdoorsman at heart. He loved tending his garden, hunting and fishing. He had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. He also enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Monika Henaire; and his brothers, Roland, Fernand, Joseph and Lucien Henaire.
Leopold is survived by his companion, Nancy Henaire, of Biddeford; one son, Robert Henaire, of Biddeford; as well as his nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford. To share condolences online, please visit: www.HopeMemorial.com.
