Joan P. Foley, 78
SCARBOROUGH - Joan P. Foley, 78, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018.
Born in Portland on Sept. 5, 1939, Joan was the daughter of the late William and Priscilla (Martell) Christopher. She graduated from Deering High School, Class of 1957. Joan married Charles Foley and together, they made their home in South Portland and Scarborough.
Earlier in life, Joni worked for Jordan Marsh from 1969 through the 1980s. Following Charlie's retirement, he and Joni opened their own business in South Portland, Premier Video. They had a great following as people always loved coming to the store where Charlie and Joni would share their vast interests. Charlie and Joni knew everyone, their kids, and their pets. They were always there to help.
Joni enjoyed bowling. She won State and New England regional championships, of which she was always proud.
Together, Joni and Charlie enjoyed traveling, especially trips to California, Hawaii, and Graceland. She was an avid Elvis, KD Lang, and Melissa Etheridge fan, attending many of their concerts.
Charlie and Joni adopted and rescued many different cats over the years. Her love for the welfare of her cats never wavered, even in her last days. Simon and Nikita were with her at her bedside.
Joan was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, Charles T. Foley.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Joan and husband Dennis Lennon of Casco, Mary and husband James Allen of Portland, and Theresa Diffin of South Portland; and brother-in-law, James Foley and wife Wendy of Florida. Joni is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
