Irene Patricia Nelson "Pat" Welsh, 90
YORK - Irene Patricia Nelson "Pat" Welsh, 90, of Two Victoria Court, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017.
She was born Jan. 19, 1927, in Westbrook, the daughter of the late Aaron N. and Thelma (Jensen) Nelson.
She graduat-ed from Portland Regional School of Nursing and, with her nurturing and caring spirit, loved her work as a pediatric nurse at Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pa.
Her husband of 55 years, David E. Welsh III, died in 2006.
She leaves two sons, David E. Welsh IV and wife Gail, of Jamestown, R.I.; and Carden N. Welsh and wife Ann, of Durham, N.H.; a daughter, Kristine W. Holleran, of Raymond, N.H.; a brother, Dennett B. Nelson and wife Sharon, of Riverview, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Patrick, Molly, Patricia, Desiree, Kaytee, Travis, Ryan and Wells; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her dog Wynnie.
Pat was a generous, outgoing and optimistic person loved by a large circle of family and friends. An avid knitter, needlepointer and reader, she delighted in traveling the world, and relished spending time with friends and family at her summer camp at Pequawket Lake. She was dedicated to her church activities, and baked an amazing selection of cookies at Christmas.
Calling hours will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, in the First Parish Church, 180 York St., York. Burial will be private. Visit: www.lucaseatonfuneralhome.com.
