Gayle Trask Kiernan, 76
SACO - Gayle Trask Kiernan, 76, of Saco, passed away at Gosnell Memorial Hos-pice House on July 7, 2017, following a long and courageous struggle with amyloidosis.
She was born in Milo, on Nov. 25, 1940, to Claude and Dorothy Trask.
Gayle graduated from Milo High School in 1959, and the University of Maine at Orono in 1963. She began her home economics and health teaching career in East Haven, Conn., and taught at Waterville High School for almost 20 years. She was a kind and compassionate teacher who enjoyed the kids, the classroom and extracurricular school activities.
Gayle was a loving, caring and kind spouse, mother, Nana, sister and friend. She cherished her family, as well as her many valued friends she made, starting in Milo and throughout her adult life. Gayle was lots of fun! She had tons of creative energy and loved planning and hosting events for her family, friends, students and high school class reunions.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, John; her three children: son John Jr. and his wife Justine, of North Smithfield, R.I.; son Tim and his wife Noelle, of North Easton, Mass.; and daughter Janelle Michaud and her husband Jack, of Falmouth. She leaves five grandchildren whom she adored: Maura, Teddy, Patrick, Dory and Julia. Gayle also leaves behind her two brothers, Neal Trask and his wife Linda, of Carrabassett Valley; and Fred Trask, of Milo; as well as both their families. Gayle was predeceased by her parents, Claude and Dottie Trask.
Gayle's family would like to give a special thank you to dear friends Betty and Jerry Lemieux, as well as Southern Maine Hospice, for their significant involvement during Gayle's illness.
There will be a graveside service Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at noon at Evergreen Cemetery in Milo, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Trask family camp on Schoodic Lake. To share a memory or condolence, please visit:
