Gabriel Michael Holmes, 39

Gabriel Michael Holmes, 39, passed away on the morning of May 25, 2017, in his prime and way too soon. He was born on July 27, 1977, in Canton, Ohio.
He came up in Portland and thrived in Mill Valley, Calif. Gabriel's heart, drive, personality and life were bigger than you. He out-grew every state he set foot in. From the east coast to the west he'll be remembered as 100% REAL, loyal, courageous and easily loved by anyone considered friend, or family. Gabe was self-made, forging his own path and succeeding with every challenge, whether it was work, life, or women. He was a heroic Saw Tooth Hot Shot forest firefighter, an extreme marathon athlete, a firearm enthusiast, builder of dreams, a damn good chef and a true friend where too few exist. His presence alone would crowd a room making memories armed with only a smile. A frequent flyer of any dive bar within close proximity, loyal SF Giants Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He fought, laughed, and conquered each day readying himself for whatever came at him. He will be most remembered as the one who loved as ferociously as he lived. We are all lucky to have made it this far, and will leave this cold world to join you on another day.
You are family, you are blood, and you are severely missed. Life will truly never be the same without you.
Here it is. There it was.
Gabriel is in excellent company with our mother Cynthia Lea Holmes and friends. He is survived by his father William E Holmes ll (wife Connie); brothers William E Holmes lll (wife Cassie), Joshua Holmes (wife Jackie), Benjamin Holmes (wife Theresa); grandma Rita Lennon, grandfather Hubert Witte; and his adoring nieces and nephews, Jacob, Lil Bill, Elizabeth, Emily, Miles, and Carter.
Come celebrate his life on June 24, 2017, at 6 p.m. All are welcome if only for a day. Laugh/Cry/Eat/Drink to him, Bruno's Restaurant and Tavern, 33 Allen Ave. Portland.
