Franklin Edward Hoskin Jr., 86
SCARBOROUGH -- Franklin Edward Hoskin Jr., 86, of Scarborough passed away peacefully at home with his family on Dec. 14, 2012.
Franklin was born in Boston, Mass. on Nov. 10, 1926. He was the son of Franklin Edward Hoskin Sr. and Florence Elizabeth (MacAdam) Hoskin.
He graduated from Brookline High School in 1943, then attended Norwich Academy in Northfield, Vt., then served in the United States Army in Europe during WWII as an infantryman and rifleman. He served on the War Crimes Investigating Team at Nuremburg, Germany, and was honorably discharged in August 1946.
Frank graduated from Boston University in 1951 and earned the CPCU (Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter) degree in 1958. After graduating from Boston University he worked for Boston Insurance Co., Boston, Mass.; Shelby Mutual, Braintree, Mass.; Peerless Insurance Co., Keene, N.H. and as President of Casco Indemnity Company, Saco, ME until retiring in 1994. He then worked in consulting for a few years.
Frank was a member of First Baptist Church in Portland for many years and served the Lord and the Church faithfully and enthusiastically during his years there.
He is survived by his wife Fern (Fowler) Hoskin; daughter, Carol Anne Ritter and her husband, Don, of Falmouth, son, Franklin E. Hoskin III of Scarborough and son Glenn Wallace Hoskin and his wife, Lisa, of Carmel, Ind.; sister, Florence E. Breton and her husband, Cecil, of Barrington, RI; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. Interment will take place in the spring in Highland Cemetery.To express online condolences, please visit www.hobbsfuneralhome.com .
