Florence C. Rodgers, 99

SOUTH PORTLAND - Florence Hindle Crowell Rodgers passed away on April 11, 2016. She was born on March 26, 1917, to Arthur Joseph Hindle and Catherine (McClennan) Hindle. A resi- dent of South Portland for 44 years, she currently was living at Scarborough Terrace, Scarborough.

Florence grew up in North Cambridge, Mass. She made her home in New Hampshire and Florida with her first husband, Frank Crowell, and upon his death, Florence moved to Maine.

Upon Florence's marriage to Willard Rodgers, she moved to the Thornton Heights area of South Portland, where she became an active member of the Thornton Heights Methodist Church until her death.

Florence was known for her kindness and generosity to both family and friends. She will be remembered by everyone who was fortunate to have known her for her love of family, her sense of humor, and her honesty.

She was predeceased by her first husband of 22 years, Frank Crowell; her second husband, Willard Rodgers, to whom she was married for 30 years; and by her dear stepdaughter, Joan Rodgers. She is also predeceased by three brothers: Robert Joseph Hindle, Arthur Hindle and Frederick Hindle; and two sisters: Mary Landfear and Anne Landfear.

She is survived by nephews and nieces: James Fleming (wife Miyoko), Robert Landfear (wife Sheena), Sheryl Ryder (husband Donald), Suzanne Lonergan (husband Vincent), and Deborah Pichulo (husband Raymond).

She also is survived by great-nieces and great-nephews: Jennifer Ryder, Pamela and Mark Lonergan, David and Paul Pichulo, Robert and Dylan Landfear, Jimito and Jason Fleming, Kelly Hindle; and great-great nieces and nephew: Lily Doten, Tressa Pichulo, and Cole and Emilia Lonergan. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and good friend, William Landfear, and dear friends Nancy Stewart and Jack and Sue Wiemert.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland, followed by burial at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland. On-line condolences may be shared at: www.hobbsfuneralhome.com.
