Clifford A. St. Jean, 81
SANFORD -- Clifford A. St. Jean, 81, of Sanford, died on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, in Kennebunk with his family by his side.
Cliff was born in Augusta on May 4, 1931, to Cleophas and Agnes (Michaud) St. Jean. He grew up in Sanford and attended local schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the
. In 1951 he married Violet Daigle and they spent the next 61 years together and raised one son.
Cliff was employed for several years at General Electric in South Portland and Everett, Mass. He went on the work for Pratt and Whitney where he worked for many years before retiring as a supervisor in 1992. He was never a person to sit idle so after his retirement he began helping his grandson a few days a week at his business, Sanford Flooring.
He had been a member of the Sanford
as well as the Knights of Columbus in Sanford.
Cliff was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a very handy person and enjoyed helping family and friends with projects around their homes. He was a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed teaching and passing this on to his grandsons.
He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Violet D. St. Jean of Sanford; a son, Ronald St. Jean and his wife Marilyn of Alfred; two grandsons, Jason St. Jean, his wife Erin, and their two children, Austin and Emma of Kennebunk, and Matthew St. Jean, his wife Courtney, and their soon to be born son of Springvale; a sister, Jeanne Roy of Sanford; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter St., in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial and military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
