The Guest Book is expired.
PORTLAND -- Alma Rose Beville, 95 died Saturday June 23, 2012 at MMC with her family by her side.
Alma, the only child of Rose Alma (Girard) & Martin J Lawless, was born in Peabody, Mass. on March 20, 1917. After graduating from Peabody High School in the class of '35 she was employed at the New York Dress Shop in Lynn, Mass.
On March 17, 1939 Alma married James J. Beville with whom she enjoyed 71 years of a wonderful marriage. Mr. Beville had numerous job transfers with General Electric and Alma was always ready for the new adventures taking her as far away as Hertzilea, Israel and Petropolis, Brazil. Her HS yearbook described her as 'seeing the bright side of things', a quality which was truly enduring. Alma will be remembered for her gracious hospitality, being the family story teller and life of the party, her daily walks rain or shine, her love of music and dancing, for her vibrant spirit and sense of style, and most of all her love and devotion to her family. She will be sadly missed.
Alma was predeceased by her husband, James in 2010 and by her only child James J. Beville, Jr. in 1996. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Beville; three grandsons, James J. Beville III and his wife Heather of South Hamilton, Mass., Stephen T. Beville of Boulder, Colo., and Michael P. Beville and his wife Megan of Charleston, S.C; and five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Elizabeth and Annalise of South Hamilton, Mass., and Eli and Caden of Charleston, S.C.
Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery in Cape Elizabeth with the Rev. Michael Olmstead officiating. A reception will be held later at Village Crossings.
The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Village Crossings for their unending support and the caregivers of Comfort Keepers, Kimberly Anthony, Rinette Babine, Ruby Hussey, Sharon Jenkins and Vicky Stevens as well as Andie Etzel from Two Lights Home Care.
