William 'Sonny' 'Bill' R. Keith Jr., 73
GORHAM -- William 'Sonny' 'Bill' R. Keith Jr., 73, of Gorham, passed away on Jan. 21, 2013, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Westbrook on June 2, 1939, the son of the late William Sr., and Helen (Murphy) Keith. After graduating from Westbrook High School, Bill went on to serve his country in the National Guard and the U.S. Army between the Korean and Vietnam War
He was a machinist for many years in Connecticut, and after returning to Maine, he started his own business, Keith Foundations, which he operated for many years.
Sonny was known for his love of the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and spending time upta camp. It was spending time with his family that was most special to him though.
He was a member of the Westbrook Eagles and the Buxton Beagle Club.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Audrey 'DeeDee' Keith, Jeanine Keith and Victoria Chuluda. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly (Brown) Keith; his children, William Keith III and his wife Debbie of Standish, James Keith of Portland, and Elizabeth 'Lisa' Howe and her husband Archie of Gorham; sisters, Roberta Morse of Scarborough, Nancy Merry of Scarborough, and Karen Keith of Cranston, R.I.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and one expected great-grandchild.
Sonny's family would like to thank the staff at the Gosnell House for their care in his final days.
Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 25, from 12-1 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. service at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, located on the corners of Rts. 202 and 4A (13 Portland Rd.) in Buxton (Bar Mills). www.DCPate.com
