Rita M. Poulin, 92
SANFORD -- Rita M. Poulin, 92, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the Newton Center in Sanford.
Rita was born in Biddeford, on July 14, 1920, where she grew up and attended local schools. On Sept. 2, 1939, she married Romeo Poulin. Together they raised five children and shared 65 years of marriage until his death in 2004. Rita was employed for many years at local textile mills and then owned and operated a well-established catering company.
Rita was always welcoming and personable she enjoyed the company of family and friends, especially during their summers spent at Wells Beach. Some of her favorite hobbies included making pottery and ceramic figurines, doing jigsaw puzzles, baking and listening to country music.
She was a communicant of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish of Sanford. She was a 50 year member of the Daughters of Isabella.
She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother and grandmother that will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Rita was predeceased by her husband Romeo L. Poulin; and brother Clement Lamothe. Surviving are five children, Alice Crow and her husband Mark of Hudson, Fla., Helen Jarrett and her husband Peter of Anchorage, Ala., Betty Poulin of Idaho; Bryan Poulin of Miami, Fla., and Brenda Skees and her husband Gary of Orange Park, Fla.
Visitation will be held from 1 - 3 and 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Lafrance-Lambert and Black Funeral Home located at, 29 Winter St., Sanford. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located at 66 North Ave. in Sanford. Burial will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Sanford.
The family wishes to express its appreciation to the staff of the Newton Center for the extraordinary care shown to Rita and to them through these past days and years.
