Richard Benjamin Greenwich

Richard Benjamin Greenwich, 66
YORK -- Richard Benjamin Greenwich, 66, of York, died on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough with his loving family at his side.
Richard was born in Waltham, Mass., on April 10, 1947, the son of Benjamin and Olga (Ahonen) Greenwich. He graduated from Winchester High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
After his tour of duty he furthered his education at East Coast Aero Tech in Bedford, Mass., and earned his Associates degree from the University of Southern Maine. He was a licensed airplane mechanic working for U.S. Airways.
On July 22, 1972, he married his wife of 41 years, Diane Jackson.
Richard enjoyed music, boating, and waterskiing. He was active in the Congregational Churches in the different communities that he lived in and would always join their choirs. He played the trombone while he was in the Navy for their band and it was rare that he couldn't complete a song after just a few words to start it or a brief tune hummed. But most importantly, he loved times spent with his family.
Richard is remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Diane Greenwich; his daughter, Kimberly Littlefield and her husband Jason of Scarborough, his son, Master Sergeant Kevin R. Greenwich of the U.S.A.F. of Anchorage, Alaska; brothers, Edward and George Greenwich; five grandchildren, Grace Greenwich, Bailey, Mackenzie, Landon and Peyton Littlefield; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at the First Parish Congregational Church, York Street, York, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at 1 p.m., at the Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery, Route 140, Gilmanton, N.H., with military honors.
