Ralph H. 'Red'
BIDDEFORD -- Ralph 'Red' Pitt, 92, of Biddeford, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
He was born in Salem, Mass., on Oct. 6, 1920, the son of Orville and Margaret Truman Pitt. He was educated from South Portland schools and Norway High School.
Ralph served his country in the United States Army during World War II; a Pearl Harbor survivor.
Earlier, Ralph was a Project Manager for Kibler & Storer. His most notable project was adding the top two stories to Portland's Time and Temperature building.
Later, Ralph owned and operated Pitt Construction in Biddeford for many years.
He was a member of Biddeford and Saco Lodge of Elks and past exalted ruler.
He was an avid reader and outdoor sportsman in his youth. His greatest pleasure was his wife and children.
Mr. Pitt was predeceased by his wife Almeda Saucier Pitt on April 18, 2004. He is survived by one daughter, Denise A. Pitt Gelinas and her husband Andrew of Biddeford; two sons, Mark R. Pitt and his wife Ann of Swanton, Vt., Bruce H. Pitt and his wife Julie of Biddeford; four grandchildren, Brian and Melissa Pitt, Jennifer Dashno and Rebecca Wells; two great-grandchildren; very close family in Virginia Beach; and his cousin, Persis.
Visiting hours will be from 10- 11:30 a.m. on Monday, with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, at Cote Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco. To send private condolences to the family go to www.cotefuneralhome.com
