Paul L. Anderson Jr.
GORHAM -- Paul L. Anderson Jr., passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Feb. 5, 2013, at the age of 88, in Gorham.
Paul, the oldest of five siblings, was born on June 11, 1924, to Paul and Rose Anderson in Topsham. At a young age the family moved to Westbrook, where Paul attended school. After graduating from Westbrook High School in 1942, Paul enlisted in the Coast Guard. In 1946, Paul L. Anderson Jr. met and married the love of his life, Corinna Sargent. They had five children and lived happily until her departure in 1978.
Paul worked a short time for S.D. Warren. After he was married, he moved to Mighty Street in Gorham to assist his father- in-law with the family farm. During the 1960s he began his own chain saw repair business in his backyard. The business grew so well he was able to give up farming. In 1959, Paul took a job working for D.D. Terrill out of Bangor and was a salesman where he traveled through the states of Vermont and New Hampshire selling Oregon chain. He was an award winning salesman. In the late 1980s he went to work for Yerxa's Lawn and Garden Service in Portland. Working was all Paul loved and wanted to do, so after retiring Paul worked for Hannaford in Standish until 2008.
He was a loving and caring father. He worked long days and long hours to provide for his family, but he always managed to be there. He was a quiet, soft spoken man but he was very honest and truthful when he thought he needed to be. Paul loved to laugh and he had a witty sense of humor that brought out a little twinkle in his ocean blue eyes. He loved and respected all of his children dearly and wanted the best for all of them.
