Patricia Callahan Bourget

Patricia 'Patty'
Callahan Bourget
STANDISH -- Patricia 'Patty' Callahan Bourget, of Standish, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a two year battle with breast cancer. Born on Aug. 31, 1948, Patty was the daughter of William 'Ed' and Gloria Callahan of Farmington. Patty graduated from Farmington High School in 1966 and attended Aroostook State College where she met her husband Bob Bourget. Bob and Patty were married on Aug. 17, 1968.
Patty worked in the Bonny Eagle school district for 17 years as an administrative assistant. She then spent several years in the same position at the Westbrook Superintendent's office. During this time, Patty was a field hockey coach at Bonny Eagle for 23 years, five at the varsity level. She took great pleasure from coaching, with some of her most memorable coaching seasons in 2004 and 2005 when she coached those teams to the Maine State Class A championships.
Patty was a great supporter of athletics and was a founding member of the Bonny Eagle Athletic Boosters Club, serving as club President for four years. Above all, Patty found great joy in her time spent with her family. Christmas was her favorite holiday and many of the traditions she started have now been passed on through her children to their children. She enjoyed doing crafts, which often included new projects for her husband Bob, and she enjoyed ceramics and later stained glass. Patty's pride and joy was spoiling her 11 grandchildren; although she never admitted to it. She would often be seen at their various events and activities - always their greatest fan. In her spare time, she loved tending to her flower gardens and watching the birds around her home.
Surviving are her husband Bob of 44 years; daughters, Lori Sweeney and husband Hayes of Hollis, Jill Kelly and husband Mike of Smithfield, R.I., Robyn Jackson and husband Andy of Limington, son Jeff Bourget and wife Tessa of Fort Lee, Va.; a sister, Peggy Callahan of Wilton, brothers, Dan Callahan and wife Pixie of Citrus Springs, Fla., and Tim Callahan of West Freeman Township; and grandchildren Channing, Andrew, Audrey, Keelin, Grady, Ryan, Hayes, Emily, Regan, Kaci, and Landon.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and gratitude to their family and friends who have been so generous and supportive of Patty and her family during this time. They would also like to thank the many skilled and compassionate physicians and medical staff whom she met on her journey. She will be deeply missed.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, May 17, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m., at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham.
