Francis V. Donnelly
PORTLAND -- Francis V. Donnelly passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was the spouse of Blanche (Germano) Donnelly who preceded him in death in 2002 after 58 years of marriage.
Fran D. was born on Feb. 8, 1918, in Waterbury, Conn., the youngest child of Patrick and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Donnelly. He was very active in AA as a friend of Bill W. for the past 43 years. There are many people in Connecticut and Maine whose lives were changed for the better by his work in AA.
He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and UConn men's and women's basketball teams. He was active in sports and a basketball referee for many years.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Wrenn of St. Albans, Vt., and Margaret and Mitch Cyr of Cumberland, and his sons, Patrick and Dawn Donnelly of Glenburn, and Timothy and Judy Donnelly of Cumberland. He leaves nine grandchildren, Mary and Nate Woodward, Peter and Jessica Wrenn, Allison Cyr, Melissa Cyr, Bridget Donnelly, Kelly Donnelly, Meghan Donnelly, Ian Donnelly, and Keegan Donnelly; as well as three great-grandchildren, Daniel and Merrill Wrenn and Sophia Woodward. He is also survived by his former daughter- in-law, Barbara Donnelly; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, James, Michael, Patrick, John and Joseph, and his sisters, Katharine Lynch and Mary Sullivan. He will be missed by his friend and roommate, Jerry.

.Visiting hours are also scheduled at O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St., Oakville, Conn., on Friday, March 8, from 5-7 p.m., with a funeral Mass at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Oakville on Saturday, March 9, at 9 a.m., and burial in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
