Dorothy K. Blore, 85
STANDISH -- Dorothy Kathleen Blore, 85, went home to be with her beloved Lord on Friday, April 4, 2014.
Dot was the youngest child of Truman and Myrtle Schraft Hussey. She attended Delta High School in Delta, Colo., and graduated in 1946. Dot had one year of college at Mesa College in Grand Junction.
She met and married the love of her life, John J. Blore on June 5, 1948. They enjoyed 56 years together. He passed away on Sept. 14, 2004.
In her younger years, Dot was a landscape painter. She painted several Colorado scenes. She also enjoyed playing the piano by ear and was active in the Elks Club as a Doe in Austin, Texas where she accompanied the women as they practiced their various marching protocols.
Her various jobs included apple picker, laundress, maid, and secretary at the University of Texas Art Department for 12 years. She retired in 1993. Shortly after her retirement, John and Dot moved to Maine to be near their only daughter and her family.
She was predeceased by her parents; and all her siblings. Close surviving family members are daughter Darlene, husband John and their daughter Alyssa Kraus; three nieces, Josephine Will and family in California, Virginia Pulliam and family in Colorado, Sharon Ann Fuller in Colorado, and one nephew, Ronald Rowland and family in Utah.
A memorial service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hobbsfuneralhome.com.
