Barbara L. (Maguire) Cady, 79
PORTLAND -- Barbara L. (Maguire) Cady, 79, of Falmouth, passed away in her sleep on Nov. 5, 2013.
The daughter of Charles J. and Margaret E. (Schmieg) Maguire, she was born in New York City on May 16, 1934. She graduated from Newtown High School in Elmhurst, N.Y., and received a bachelor of science in Education from S.U.N.Y. New Paltz.
She married J. Alan Cady on Aug. 11, 1956 in Elmhurst. They moved to Niagara Falls, N.Y., and in 1964 they moved to Portland. Barbara worked as an elementary school teacher for over 20 years. After retiring, she worked at Shaw's Falmouth for several years. She was a member of the Cumberland County Retired Educators Association and Alpha Delta Kappa.
Her greatest joys were her two grandchildren.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband in 1971. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Krasowski and her husband John of Portland; her sister, Peg Hellgren of Florida; her grandchildren, Jennifer Krasowski of NYC, and Michael Krasowski of Boston; nieces, Karen and Tracey and her nephew, Eric.
Barbara's family would like to offer a special thank you to the Falmouth Rescue and Police Departments.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, from 1-3 p.m., at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Phillip Shearman officiating.
