Sandy was active in Track & Field and football at Harvard, and was a member of the Varsity and Owl Clubs. He served as Secretary of the Eastern Dog Club and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. His interests included sailing and traveling, but first and foremost he was a devoted and much loved father and grandfather.

Antonino, Switzerland, married to Giulio. He is also survived by three step-children, Laura Moehrke of Wakefield, R.I., Christopher Greer of Pasadena, Calif., and Sao Paolo, Brazil, and Susan Gildar of Scottsdale, Ariz. His nieces and nephews are Lyn Anderson of Wenham, Mass., Jake Wheeler of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Bill Wheeler of Nahant, Mass., Jonathan Wheeler of Boston, Mass., Seeley Kaplan of Carnation, Wash., Lucy LeBert of Seattle, Wash., and Stephen LeBert of Corinth, Miss. He was predeceased by his brother, William Wheeler, his sister, Agnes Wheeler; his daughter, Ellen Hayward Wheeler; and his step-son, Robert Greer. His step-grandchildren are Will and Sam Moehrke, Emily, Natalie and Holly Gildar, Robert, Timothy, Christina and Nicholas Greer, and Catherine, Christopher and Elizabeth Greer. They all had a special place in his heart.
A private burial service will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Dover, Mass., on Dec. 31, 2013. Please visit www.lindquistfuneralhome.com to share condolences, memories and tributes with Sandy's family.
